Originally, a joke about a sniper who is obsessed with shooting, I needed verses and drew on the idea of an ex soldier back home as a civilian but not thinking like a civilian any more because of the bad stuff which he has experienced. A hard song to write because it's a powerful issue and it would be a shame to get it wrong.
